Experiment Monday

Colin did not have school today, due to Presidents Day.  So we needed some activities to fill our day.  We identified three experiments, plus some car building activities to occupy our time.  We headed to Menards to get some supplies this morning.
Experiment #1 - baking soda volcano.  We used a kit from Menards that was on big sale and included a volcano, safety goggles, and tropic backdrop.

Experiment #2 - lava lamp.  This one did not work so well.  There were two ways to make the lava bubble, salt or Alka Seltzer.  We only had salt and not sure it worked as well.  If you look real close, you can see a few bubbles.  We'll try again after going to the store.

Experiment #3 - balloon blowup with baking soda.  I think Colin liked this the best.

We also drilled holes and cut wood to make cars, but Dad messed up and bought screws a little too short.  So that activity must be saved for another day.  All in all, I think Colin had fun and maybe even learned something
