Catching Up

It's been a while since I've put anything out here. Maybe we've been too busy. Or maybe nothing exciting has happened. Or maybe I've just been lazy or forgetful. no matter the reason, here is some catching up. For my two biggest fans (Meme and Grandma), although Maggie is right up there too, except that she already knows what goes on each day, I'll try to keep more current.

Since my last post, school has ended. Summer started with baseball camp for Colin. It was a long day (9:00 - 2:00) for four days straight. He seemed to really enjoy it and it looks like baseball might be his thing (at least for now). He does pretty well and has made great strides in hitting, throwing, and catching in the past month. He even asks me to practice with him some evenings, instead of the other way around.

The week after that was our trip to Mexico and the kids week-long sleepover with Grandma and Grandpa. Lots of fun was had by all five of us.

This week, we signed up for the summer reading program. The kids get to earn prizes for reading and participating in activities at the library. Everyone hit the ground running. The girls each read for 25 minutes on the first day and Colin logged an impressive 90 minutes on day one. It's especially impressive since he squeezed that time in with a two hour basketball camp and Taekwondo on the same day. Today Colin sat with the girls (and this was his idea) to go through their sight word flash cards, which I agreed could count towards their reading time but not his.

The rest of the week will be spent at another three days of basketball camp with a trip or two to the pool sprinkled in. It's nice to have summer here.

  1. Keith, yes, so good to see a post, thank you. The reading club is such a good thing, so many fine places to go in so many fine books. I like Colin's baseball photo very much.
