Are You Blind?

Colin has a book called "Press Here" that Aunt Jenny picked out for him before the girls were born.  It has a series of interactive pages (press the yellow dots, tilt the book to the right, etc.) with blue, red, and yellow dots.  It has become a favorite of the girls at bed time.  One of the pages has a line of red, yellow, and blue dots repeating with two dots switched in the pattern that you are supposed to find.  The girls like to start from left to right and point and name each color.

While reading this book nightly, we had a bad feeling that Julia might be red/green color blind, or at least color challenged.  She would constantly say green when pointing to the red dot.  Finally a couple of nights ago, she nailed it.  She was quite proud and said "I didn't say green!" when she finished naming the dot colors.  The following page has a similar arrangement of dots and the girls once again named the colors and Julia nailed it again.  This time, Caroline did the bragging for Julia.   She turned to look at us and said "Jewa say red!"

Hopefully she has her reds and greens straight now.  Or at a minimum, she has the pattern memorized.

  1. Yea for Jewa, that beautiful girl. Pop gave me the story this morning of this red/green event as I hadn't yet seen the blog. I well remember the book and have read it with Colin. Isn't it the best when you witness not only their accomplishments and successes, but as well, their own delight in same?
