Sight Words

We've been going through sight word flash cards a few times a week on the couch. We did these over the summer, but took a little break when school started. Colin is up to about 70 words. We add 5 new words each week. Julia and Caroline sit with us and say the words too, repeating after Colin.

Today Colin got distracted for a minute on the card for "all". Then I hear Caroline say it very quietly. I was a little surprised. The only words I've heard them say before on their own were "a" and "I". Usually they just repeat or tell us that purple or pink is their favorite flash card color.

We quizzed the girls on a few more cards and they were about 50%. Not sure how they would do on all 70. Caroline was faster than Julia to say the words. They got "it" and "take", but missed "and", "know", and "here".

  1. I wish I could have heard Caroline say "all". How neat that she knew the word!
