US Air Force Museum

To start Colin's last week of summer vacation, we took a drive to Dayton Ohio to visit the Air Force Museum.  The admission cost was right (free) and Colin was interested.  So it worked out well.

It required a lot of walking.  As you can imagine an airplane museum has to be pretty big, but there was minimal complaining.  They have planes separated by war eras, plus presidential planes and some space related flying equipment.

Here they are standing in front of Bockscar, the place that dropped the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki.  I'm assuming that is a replica of the bomb though.

We got to tour several presidential planes including Air Force One that was used by Kennedy and Nixon and planes that FDR and Dwight Eisenhower used.

In one of the hangars, they had a section setup with an interactive math exhibit.  The kids liked that the best.  Here they are learning about angles when guiding a snowboard down a hill.

There was also ample opportunity to sit in some jet cockpits as well as try your hand at landing a space shuttle.  FYI, never ride in an aircraft piloted by one of these three.  You will be in for a crash landing.
