Ski School

Today was the girls' first time on the slopes. We signed up for Mommy and Me Ski. Luckily they allow dads too. It's a four week program at Mad River Mountain. It's meant to be a chance for kids to learn and parents to get some tips to improve their own skills, as well as learn how to help their kids after the program. I brought my snowboard, but ended up walking the bunny hill with the girls most of the time. Although I did take one run down with them.

The lessons are two hours long, with a hot chocolate break in the middle. There wasn't much snow, and what was there, was almost as much like sand as it was snow. Julia did quite well and was off on her own following the instructors and riding up the magic carpet on her own. Caroline had a few frustrating moments, possibly escalated by my offering to help. She seemed to be happier to have the help of a stranger than her Dad. By the end, she was going down the hill with a big smile and skipped right past one of the instructors so she could make a longer run before being stopped.

Next week I'm planning to try skiing. It's been about 23 or 24 years since my one trip to Paoli Peaks. I hope I'm not the one that ends up with some frustrating moments.

  1. Wow! I really enjoyed watching the videos. Great job Julia and Caroline! Good luck next week Keith. Hope it's like riding a bike for you.
