SB - Day IV

Day 4 started with the excitement of watching a lumber delivery being unloaded with a forklift.  The kids all watched from the dining room window with the curtains drawn for tents.

We followed that with a trip to Blendon Woods Park.  We learned about different mammals that are native to Ohio and then took a nature walk through the park led by a naturalist (at least I think that's what he called himself).

After lunch, Colin and I worked on our pie crust for our apple pie (inspired by a book from Meme) while the girls did not nap.

Following another failed nap attempt, we loaded up the jogging stroller for a trip to the park.  On our way, we passed one of Colin's classmates on the trail.  We ended up at the duck pond and then the park playing with him and his sister.

When we got home it was a rush to finish our pie in time for dessert.  Julia and Caroline helped with most of the work this time.  That's a lot of apples.

Maggie insisted I take a pie picture.  So here it is.

Throughout the day we also watched lots of construction out the back door.  Tomorrow will likely be a normal boring Friday filled with grocery shopping and at home activities.

  1. Keith, OHMYGOSH, this pie! You must have followed the exact recipe in the little book - you made your own crust !! uncommonly done presently and that stack of apples is most impressive but the final product is beyond awesome. It is perfectly beautiful. That's an exceptionally fine shot of Colin with the crust. Any chance you'd crop that for Meme? Maybe I am out of letters, but must say again, an impressive effort and I have had a report that it is delicious too. What a fine week all of you have had!
